Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah is facing another difficult phase after being ruled out of the PSL, with fresh fitness concerns adding to the problems already surrounding him.
The latest reports suggest the Pakistan Cricket Board is unhappy not only with his fitness record, but also with recent off field issues, making this more than just another injury setback for the pacer.
Fresh Fitness Concerns Push Naseem Out of PSL
Naseem’s latest setback reportedly came after he suffered a side strain during Rawalpindi’s match against Karachi Kings. He then missed the team’s following game, which increased concerns over his physical condition. Reports suggest he will now have to go through an extensive rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the medical panel.

This development has again put the spotlight on Naseem’s fitness history. He was earlier ruled out of Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh after suffering an injury during the country’s 2026 T20 World Cup campaign. With repeated interruptions affecting his availability, the board now appears to be taking a stricter view of his long term fitness management.
PCB Unhappy as Fine and Conduct Issues Add to Trouble
The fitness issue is only one part of the story. Naseem was also reportedly fined PKR 20 million after making comments about Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz on social media. While he avoided a ban in that matter, the fine itself was described as one of the biggest penalties seen in Pakistan cricket.
Reports also claim the PCB selection committee is unhappy with his frequent fitness problems, while the medical panel is expected to review his case soon. Another sign of his recent struggles came last year when he was moved down to Category C in Pakistan’s central contracts list. Taken together, the latest injury, the heavy fine, and the board’s dissatisfaction have turned this into a serious setback for Naseem at an important stage of his career.
