Babar Azam created a major milestone in T20 cricket during PSL 2026, becoming the fastest player to score 100 half-centuries. The record came in Peshawar Zalmi’s match against Quetta Gladiators, where he played a match-winning knock.
Fastest to 100 T20 Fifties
Babar reached the landmark in just 341 innings, breaking the previous record held by Virat Kohli, who had taken 401 innings.

The gap of 60 innings highlights Babar’s consistency in the format. Among other top players, Jos Buttler reached the milestone in 435 innings, while David Warner took 468 innings.
With this achievement, Babar also became the first Pakistani batter to reach 100 T20 fifties, placing him among the elite names in the format.
Match-Winning Knock Under Pressure
The milestone came during a crucial chase. Babar scored an unbeaten 71 off 51 balls, guiding Peshawar Zalmi to a comfortable win against Quetta Gladiators.
Chasing 155, he anchored the innings from the start and built a strong opening partnership with Mohammad Haris. The pair added 75 runs, setting the base for the chase.
Babar brought up his fifty in 37 balls and continued to control the game till the end. His innings included 10 boundaries and helped Zalmi seal an eight-wicket win with nine balls remaining.
Consistency Defining His T20 Career
Babar’s latest record reflects his long-term consistency in T20 cricket. He now has 100 half-centuries, moving closer to the all-time record list where Warner leads with 116 fifties, followed by Kohli with 107.
His form in PSL 2026 has been strong as well, with over 300 runs in the tournament so far. The milestone comes shortly after another achievement, where he became the fastest to reach 12,000 T20 runs.
Babar Azam’s performance has once again brought the Kohli vs Babar comparison into focus. While Kohli still leads in overall legacy, Babar continues to close the gap with consistent performances and record-breaking milestones.
With PSL 2026 underway, Babar’s form will be key for Peshawar Zalmi as they push for a strong finish in the tournament.
