Nobody gave Azam Khan a chance when he walked in at number four with the scoreboard reading 76/2. What followed was one of the most devastating counter attacks PSL 2026 has witnessed. Six fours and six sixes in a 34 ball masterclass that turned a tricky chase of 198 into a procession.
David Warner’s decision to promote Azam paid off handsomely as the big hitting keeper batter rode his luck and made every reprieve count. Sam Billings and Daryl Mitchell had earlier rescued the Pindiz from 62/3 with a 120 run fourth wicket stand to post 197/6.
Abbas Afridi’s towering six off the penultimate over sealed a perfect hat trick of wins for the Kings. Three matches, three victories and Karachi look like genuine title contenders.

First Innings: Billings and Mitchell Rescue Pindiz After Top Order Wobble
Rizwan gave the Pindiz a flying start with three fours off Moeen Ali’s opening over. Khushdil Shah’s double strike then triggered a collapse to 62/3. Billings and Mitchell rescued the innings with a 120 run stand, flicking the switch in the 13th over when Billings smashed 19 off Khushdil.

Second Innings: Azam Khan’s Promotion Gamble Pays Off in Style
Waseem smashed two early fours before Naseem bowled him for 23. Agha survived a torrid spell from Amir Khan, beaten five times in one over before carving a six. Mitchell outsmarted him with a wider delivery to have him caught behind for 29.
The real turning point was Azam walking out at number four. He took a few balls to settle before unleashing carnage that no bowler could contain. Back to back sixes off McConchie in the 17th over broke the Pindiz spirit completely. Dropped catches only added to their misery as the equation became a formality.
Warner anchored the other end beautifully with 50 off 36 balls before falling to Mitchell. Azam holed out for 74 and Abbas Afridi finished it with one swing, a massive six off Mitchell with four balls to spare.
